AJE is proud to have signed on to the ACLU of the District of Columbia ‘s (ACLU-DC) letter to the Council encouraging them to be transparent in how they propose potential changes to D.C. FOIA (the Freedom of Information Act) law and strike the “Freedom of Information Clarification Amendment Act of 2019” from the Budget Support Act.  FOIA is an important tool for parents, and AJE and other organizations use it to monitor public education.  FOIA has been a part of AJE’s work around school discipline, restraint and seclusion, and other school safety, and we know students are safer for that work.
