- Open enrollment period is the annual period of time when you can enroll in healthcare coverage. Individuals and families can also switch plans and may qualify for a tax credit during this period, as well.
- The Open Enrollment period for 2015 coverage is November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015. However, if you would like health coverage to start on January 1, 2015 you must be enrolled for coverage by December 15, 2014.

Individuals can enroll by visiting their website at https://dchealthlink.com/ or by calling DC Health Link Contact Center at 855-532-5465.
- If you do not enroll in coverage by February 15, 2015, you will not be able to buy healthcare coverage through DC Health Link for 2015. The next Open Enrollment period for healthcare coverage under the Affordable Care Act will be in the following year (approximately November 2015).
- Individuals and families who are enrolled in a healthcare coverage through DC Health Link in 2014 will automatically be renewed in the same plan or a very similar plan for 2015. Unless a new healthcare plan is selected. Premium subsidies will be recalculated for 2015 based on the most up-to-date information provided to DC Health Link.
- If you’re already enrolled in DC Health Link coverage, call the DC Health Link Contact Center at 855-532-5465 if you have updates to your information for the coming year (things like changes to income, household size, citizenship, residency, or a new address).
- Please look at your plan carefully. Healthcare coverage plans often change from year to year. If a change has occurred, your insurer is likely to send you a letter telling you that if you continue to pay your premiums you’ll be transitioned into a new plan. There may be a rate increase, your doctor may or may not be in the new plan, and the prescriptions you take may or may not be on the formulary.
- Open enrollment for Medicaid never closes. Individuals and families can file an application for healthcare coverage with financial assistance at any time. Individuals who are eligible for Medicaid will be sent an enrollment packet. If you need to apply for Medicaid you can drop-off your completed application or apply in person at any DHS Service Center, mail in your application to Economic Security Administration, fax your application to (202) 671-4400, or apply online at https://dchealthlink.com/.
- If you don’t have health coverage during 2015, you may have to pay a fee. The fee in 2015 will be higher and it is projected to be 2% of your income or $325 per adult or $162.50 per child, whichever is more.
