AJE wants to share this information with families and educators to learn and access resources about the college search and application process for students with intellectual disabilities on March 8th, 2024 at 2pm.  ASL interpretation & Spanish interpretation will be offered!

Students with intellectual disability want to go to college – and they can! But they can’t get there alone. They need educators and family members who understand what skills are necessary to make it happen and will support them to achieve their goals. And they need resources to help them (and their families!) understand the college search and application process.

Think College created the “Think Higher. Think College.” public awareness campaign to inform and educate teachers, school administrators, support professionals, college staff and faculty, families, and students themselves that college is an option for students with intellectual disability. The public awareness campaign includes new tools to make the process easy to understand and doable.

Join us for this free webinar to learn about the current picture of inclusive higher education in the US, and hear from college students with intellectual disability from around the country, along with educators and family members, to learn how we can “Think Higher. Think College.” together.

During this webinar attendees will learn about:

• The current situation regarding college options for students with intellectual disability.

• New resources from the “Think Higher. Think College” campaign.
• Options that exist for students with intellectual disability, how to guide students to pursue college, and what the college experience is like for a student with intellectual disability.

AJE quiere compartir esta información con familias y educadores para conocer y acceder a recursos sobre el proceso de búsqueda y solicitud de universidades para estudiantes con discapacidad intelectual el 8 de marzo de 2024 a las 2 p.m. Se ofrecerá interpretación al español y ASL (lenguaje de señas americano).

Los estudiantes con discapacidad intelectual quieren ir a la universidad, ¡y pueden hacerlo! Pero no pueden llegar solos. Necesitan educadores y familiares que comprendan qué habilidades son necesarias para lograrlo y necesitan ser apoyados para lograr sus objetivos. También necesitan recursos que les ayuden a ellos (¡y a sus familias!) a comprender el proceso de búsqueda y solicitud de universidades.

Think College creó el programa “Think Higher. Think College.” (“Pensar más alto. Pensar en la universidad”) , el cual es una campaña de concientización pública para informar y educar a maestros, administradores escolares, profesionales de apoyo, personal y profesores universitarios, familias y estudiantes mismos que la universidad es una opción para los estudiantes con discapacidad intelectual. La campaña de concientización pública incluye nuevas herramientas para que el proceso sea factible y fácil de entender.
