AJE is happy to share this news from the Ward 3 Democrats. They are sponsoring a live event “Will Current COVID-19 Tests Get Us Through the Reopening of Schools?“
Next Thursday, September 17th at 7pm , Dr. Michael Mina, M.D., Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, Harvard; Associate Medical Director, Pathology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Dr. Amy Maisterra, Deputy Chancellor, District Public Schools and, Vincent Gray, DC Councilmember, Ward 7, Chairperson, Committee on Health will meet to discuss the role of current COVID-19 tests and whether they can get us through the reopening of schools.
Questions to be discussed will include:
- How will we know that testing is reliable enough to justify reopening schools?
- Will tracking and tracing be available, and how important are they?
- How will infection rates influence policies? Teachers in DC public schools may live in Maryland or Virginia, so infection rates in those local communities should be included in the calculations.
- Does the school system have adequate PPE and cleaning supplies?
- What on-site plans can best protect all participants?
