Did you know that AJE was a member of the Dignity in School? The Dignity in School Campaign (DSC) is working to dismantle the School to Prison Pipeline and end the systemic problem of pushout in our nation’s schools. As a national coalition, the Dignity in Schools Campaign builds power amongst parents, youth, organizers, advocates and educators to transform their own communities, support alternatives to a culture of zero-tolerance, punishment, criminalization and the dismantling of public schools, and fight racism and all forms of oppression. DSC brings together our members through direct action organizing, public policy advocacy, and leadership development to fight for the human right of every young person to quality education and to be treated with dignity.
DSC has an active presence on Twitter and Instagram and has great resources available to families and organizations looking to address school pushout in their communities! For example, DSC’s campaign #CounselorsNotCops is full of information you can use to advocate for truly safe schools and #SolutionsNotSupensions has resources for working to keep students in school.
